    July 6, 2026; 8 AM - 4 PM (7.5 hours; must attend)
  • Student Days:
    July 7 through August 6, 2026, Tuesday through Thursday

Vacation will not be approved during the scheduled summer program dates. Any time lost due to staff absences may result in termination from the summer program and/or reduction in pay.

Teachers and paras will be paid according to a stipend. The stipend will be split into two pays (July 24, 2026 and August 21, 2026)

Students invited to this program have been identified by their IEP team as being eligible to receive special education support as outlined in their IEP. Special education staff will support students attending both the Extended School Year and 12 Month Programs.

This is inclusive of students attending the RISE, Foundations, THRIVE, LCCE, and LIFE Programs. Training and support will be provided.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - SPED TEACHERS

  • Provides a safe and encouraging learning environment to meet the needs, interests, and abilities of all students.
  • Maintains professionalism, confidentiality, and an atmosphere that promotes student learning.
  • Establishes and maintains a positive, collaborative rapport and communication with students, school personnel, and parents.
  • Establishes and maintains student control and discipline in the classroom, school premises or during school activities by communicating expectations of appropriate behavior.
  • Employs and implements a classroom structure and consistency to encourage student responsibility, cooperation, and mutual respect consistent with district policies and procedures.
  • Plans and uses classroom time effectively.
  • Implements School Board and school-based policies and procedures to uphold school regulations.
  • Integrates technology in instruction.
  • Communicates curriculum and student related information effectively in oral and written form.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Summer School Leaders.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPED TEACHERS

Below are the qualifications for this position:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Hold or eligible for State of Delaware teacher certification in subject matter to be taught.
