Job Description

The Process Coordinator assesses the needs of children and supports the District’s educational programs. The coordinator coordinates special education services for students with disabilities and assists general and special education staff in providing effective instructional programs through ongoing staff collaboration, training, and program development and evaluation.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assists with creating and implementing District’s policies and procedures and ensures compliance with Board policies, as well as District, state and federal laws and guidelines.
  • Assists in the identification of all types of exceptional students within the school system.
  • Performs education assessment of students, including observation of the student, review of the student’s educational history, conferences with the student’s teachers and evaluation and analysis of the student’s academic performance and learning characteristics.
  • Assists in coordinating, developing, monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of Individual Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Instructs and monitors special education teacher’s paperwork for compliance, and evaluations, including use of the Sped Track data management program.
  • Serve as Local Education Agency Representative (LEA) at IEP/Individual Service Plan (ISP) meetings to assure compliance including situations where significant program resources/issues are anticipated.
  • Monitors and analyzes special education discipline, including attending and leading disability manifestation meetings and monitoring discipline for changes of placement.
  • Works collaboratively with special education staff and administrators to ensure the provision of special education services, including related services.
  • Assists in scheduling for special education students, paraprofessionals and teachers.
  • Monitors special education files for compliance with State and Federal regulations and participates in Missouri School Improvement Program (MSIP) as needed.
  • Monitors programs/students in outside placements including attending IEPs, conducting program visits and facilitating communications.
  • Provide quality professional development in the use of research-based instruction/methodology, programming, Co-Teaching, IEP decision-making, data collection, meaningful goal writing, behavioral intervention, Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) or Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) preparation, post-secondary transition planning, transition between buildings, staffing, the special education process and compliance and monitor building consistency.
  • Demonstrate positive professional relationships and communication with District employees, students parents, and community.
  • Teach, model, and facilitate research-based best practices.
  • Work with teachers to develop effective teaching strategies and tools to aid the instructional process.
  • Work with teachers to develop effective classroom assessment strategies.
  • Work with teachers on using assessment data to drive student/classroom instruction.
  • Provides student instruction and special education services, as necessary.
  • Assists Special Education Director using data to anticipate programmatic needs, support student achievement and recommend improvements.
  • Collects and monitors thorough and timely data for reporting requirements for State reports, i.e. Core Data, December 1 Child Count, Exit Report, and MSIP process.
  • Assists with technology for special education, including individual assistive devices.
  • Assists in interviewing and selecting special education staff.
  • Assists in ordering special education materials and special education budget planning and development.
  • Prepares, plans and coordinates short and long-range goals for special education.
  • Attends local/regional/national conferences and workshops, in-service training, staff meetings and credit courses (when necessary) to keep abreast of new developments and maintain certification and/or license.
