ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of the Supervisor of Academic Instruction, the Teacher will plan, organize, and supervise classroom activities including reading, writing, and math functions. The Teacher will develop and prepare curriculum and daily lesson plans, attend training, maintain a working knowledge of institution education orders, policies and procedures, counsel inmate students regarding progress and performance, prepare reports, prepare supply requisitions, maintain control and discipline in the classroom, conduct searches for contraband and weapons, and follow the approved curriculum for the levels of the assigned students.
All other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications- California Teaching Credential in the appropriate subject area.
- Valid certification as required for teaching in California (e.g., High School General Education).
- Eligible to teach in a correctional environment, with background check and compliance to safety policies.
- State Employment Application completed with required documents.
- Background investigation (Live Scan fingerprinting), tuberculosis testing (if required) and eligibility for live scan clearance.
- Willingness to create and promote an equitable and inclusive workplace.
- Possession of a professional clear credential.
Applicants must pass the Teacher (High School
- General Education), CF examination.
