Albert Einstein Continuation High School provides students in the North Hills community with an alternative pathway toward earning a high school diploma in a supportive, student-centered environment.
Albert Einstein Continuation High School serves approximately 60-70 students annually in a small school setting focused on academic achievement, credit recovery, social-emotional support, and character development. The student population is approximately 85% Latino, 5% White, and 5% Black/African American, and 5% Other. The school is designated as a Title I school, with approximately 97% economically disadvantaged students, 25% English Learners, and 5% Students with Disabilities.
The staff at Albert Einstein Continuation High School works collaboratively to ensure students are supported academically, socially, and emotionally while preparing them for graduation and post-secondary success. The school emphasizes individualized instruction, relationship-centered practices, and intervention systems designed to meet the unique needs of continuation high school students.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:Will demonstrate knowledge and experience in alternative education settings and personalized pathways to graduation, with the ability to design and operationalize systems of support, intervention, and student engagement that promote student success and continuous improvement. The candidate will have experience using disaggregated data to improve academic achievement, attendance, graduation outcomes, and postsecondary readiness for all students. The ideal candidate will utilize the Teaching and Learning Framework to provide actionable feedback that strengthens standards-based instruction, teacher effectiveness, and student outcomes.
The candidate will possess knowledge of State, Federal, Title I, and LAUSD policies, procedures, and regulations, including those related to continuation education and student support systems. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have experience implementing restorative practices, the District’s Discipline Foundation Policy, and School-Wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (SWPBIS) to improve school culture, climate, safety, and belonging. Experience planning and facilitating professional development, building collaborative partnerships with families and community organizations, and supporting diverse student populations, including English Learners, students with disabilities, foster youth, and housing‑insecure youth, is highly desirable.
Bilingual abilities are preferred.
MST 40G - E Basis ($123,618 - $153,961) – 234 paid days
- For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.
- For an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the district resolves an under or over payment).
- Selected individuals may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority‑based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations.
- Five years of successful full‑time public school certificated service
- Three years of experience as a teacher in a K‑12 public school program
- Two years of experience at a middle or senior high school grades 7 through 12
QUALIFICATION:
- One year in a non‑classroom leadership position (i.e., Temporary Adviser, Categorical Adviser (0704), Out of Classroom Assignment (0706), or Instructional Coach).
- Teaching and/or counseling experience in a continuation, alternative, or opportunity school.
Employees who have been issued a below‑standard Performance Evaluation,or Notice of Unsatisfactory Act(s) and/or Suspension, shall be ineligible for application to any promotion process
for one calendar year following the issuance of such a Notice.
