The Oceanography undergraduate program at Cal Poly Humboldt is one of only two programs in California leading to a Bachelor of Science degree in Oceanography. Our program has an international reputation and we give every undergraduate student the kind of research experience most schools reserve for Master’s students.

At Cal Poly Humboldt, our students learn by doing. We have both a fully‑equipped marine lab and a true oceanic research vessel, the R/V Northwind, which is dedicated to undergraduate classes and research. Our students also get a broad foundation in mathematics, biology, chemistry, geology, and physics, as well as effective written and oral communication skills.

M.S. /M.A. or equivalent in related field along with evidence of mastery in the area being taught and successful teaching experience are required; consideration may also be given to strong professional background in the field. For a limited number of courses, consideration may be given to B.A. /B.S. degree in the appropriate field along with successful teaching experience or strong professional background in the field.

The salary schedule information for the Lecturer – Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges:

Appointees are typically placed at the beginning of the range. The full‑time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.
