Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate. Master's Degree in a library-related field. Teaching experience preferred. Valid Missouri Library Media Specialist certification.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Teacher contract days plus additional days as determined by the administration and Board of Education with benefits according to Board policy.
JOB GOAL:
To provide the leadership, instructional resources and services for implementation of a school library media program that serves as an integral part of a student-centered educational process.
- Fosters an atmosphere which encourages student and staff library media center usage.
- Prepares and submits an annual budget for the library media center.
- Maintains accurate records of library media center reports such as expenditure reports, requisitions / purchase orders, circulation reports, technical work orders, etc.
- Facilitate student achievement by helping students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development.
- Informs staff of new professional resources that enhance teaching and learning.
- Implements Library Media curriculum and plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Collaborates with teachers to integrate information literacy into the curriculum.
- Provides information literacy skills instruction.
- Selects materials to supplement district curriculum and to meet MSIP standards.
- Works with building-district level leadership and director of technology to create and implement short and long-range plans to ensure balance among teaching and instructional technology.
- Provides staff assistance in designing activities that help students learn to identify, analyze, and synthesize information by using a variety of materials and formats.
- Proficient in preparing rigorous, interactive, exciting, and informative lesson plans.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Desktop Publisher, student information system database management, and Google technology.
- Participates in instructional planning by collaborating with classroom teachers to design, implement, and evaluate resource-based teaching units.
- Assists students and staff in the use and production of supplementary teaching / learning materials.
- Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Promotes the District's adopted policies and regulations dealing with access, confidentiality, copyright and selection.
- Assists in the selection, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluation of building library media support personnel, student assistants, and volunteers.
- Assists students and staff in the use and production of supplementary teaching / learning materials.
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
- Coordinates resources and activities with networks and area libraries.
- Serves on building committees as called to do.
- Attends faculty and other appropriate staff and department meetings.
- Represents the District in regional, state and national library related professional organizations.
- Demonstrates professionalism and appropriate judgment in behavior, speech, dress and appropriate professional manner for the work setting.
- Demonstrates professional integrity through ethical behavior.
- Demonstrates effective human relations and communication skills.
- Adheres to safety practices.
- Adheres to all District rules, regulations, and policies.
- Other duties as required or assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this position an employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk, and use fingers. The employee is occasionally required to stand, reach, bend, lift up to ten pounds, and lift forty pounds to shoulder height occasionally. Close vision ability to look at a computer screen for long periods of time may be required.
CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT:
The individual who holds this position will regularly work in a school environment that is noisy and active.
Additional assignments/coaching may be available.
West Platte base compensation is $46,500. The District provides 100% Board paid health insurance, 50% Board paid dental, 50% Board paid vision, and Board paid life insurance.
