Elementary Career Exploration Teacher
Location:
Assigned to multiple elementary schools within Fredericksburg City Public Schools.
Work schedule:
10‑month teacher salary scale and benefits.
Fredericksburg City Public Schools is seeking a dynamic and innovative teacher to provide engaging, age‑appropriate career exploration instruction for students in grades K–5. This position supports multiple elementary schools and focuses on helping students build early awareness of careers, develop employability skills, and connect classroom learning to real‑world opportunities.
Key Responsibilities Instruction & Curriculum- Design and deliver engaging, standards‑aligned career exploration lessons for grades K–5
- Introduce students to Virginia Career Clusters and emerging career pathways
- Teach foundational skills such as teamwork, communication, leadership, creativity, and problem‑solving
- Integrate career concepts into core academic areas including STEM, literacy, and social studies
- Facilitate hands‑on, project‑based learning experiences
- Incorporate instructional technology and digital tools
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs
- Use assessments to monitor student progress
- Maintain accurate student records
- Use data to inform instruction
- Provide feedback to students and families
- Collaborate with teachers and counselors
- Participate in professional learning and curriculum development
- Support career‑related school events
- Build partnerships with local organizations
- Coordinate guest speakers and career days
- Manage materials and scheduling across schools
- Ensure compliance with policies and CTE requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- Virginia elementary PK‑6 teaching license (or eligibility)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to travel between school sites
- Project‑based learning experience
- Understanding of elementary instruction and career readiness
- Strong classroom management
- Collaboration and organization skills
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to travel between schools
Ten‑month, 200‑day teacher contract. Salary range: $55,057 – $95,672.
EvaluationPerformance will be evaluated annually by Building Principals & CTE District Coordinator.
