Aurora R-8 is seeking a special education paraprofessional to work with students at the elementary level. Must have 60 college hours, completion of the 20‑hour substitute course, a substitute certificate, or have passed the para test. A college degree or someone working toward a teaching degree is preferred. This person must be willing to work with students with behavior as well as assist with academics or self‑care.
They may help with feeding, diaper changing, bath rooming, transitioning with students, behaviors, etc. The individual must document well, communicate with a variety of people, and be able to work in many classrooms with many teachers.
Aurora students attend school Monday–Thursday (four days a week only). Benefits include a board‑paid health insurance stipend, paid sick/personal leave days, and an in‑district staff daycare paid for by the employee. Salary depends upon years of experience and level of education – salary schedule, personnel guide.
