Job DescriptionAurora R-8 is seeking a special education paraprofessional to work with students at the PK level. The candidate must have 60 college hours, completed the 20‑hour substitute course, a substitute certificate, or have passed the paraprofessional test. A college degree or a student working toward a teaching degree is preferred.
Responsibilities include working with students with challenging behavior, supporting pre‑academics, and providing self‑care assistance such as potty training, lifting, and feeding.
The paraprofessional must be able to document well, communicate effectively with students, families, and teachers, and work in multiple classrooms with a variety of teachers.
Qualifications- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
- 60 college hours, completed 20‑hour sub course, sub certificate, or passed the para test.
- College degree or enrollment toward a teaching degree preferred.
Board‑paid health insurance stipend, paid sick/personal leave days, and in‑district staff daycare paid for by the employee.
Salary depends on years of experience and level of education (refer to salary schedule, personnel guide).
