Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teaching
    • Teach 15 credit hours of coursework, generally 35 hours per week, during the fall and spring semesters. Summer assignments available based on student needs.
    • Deliver engaging and industry-relevant classroom and lab instruction in Industrial Instrumentation and related fields.
    • Develop, revise, and implement curriculum to meet current industry standards and workforce needs.
    • Teach courses including Instrumentation Fundamentals, Control Systems, PLCs, Industrial Electronics, Calibration Techniques, and Process Control.
    • Integrate safety practices, hands‑on training, and modern instructional technologies into instruction.
    • Plan, develop, and use effective teaching methods and materials that assist students in meeting course objectives, are appropriate for students with diverse backgrounds and learning styles, and engage them in learning.
    • Classes may be held day, afternoon, or evening.
    • Maintain regular office hours and grade records.
    • Respond promptly to information requests.
    • Attend and participate in faculty meetings.
    • Design and develop curriculum within state and accreditation guidelines.
    • Assist in assessment and placement of students in appropriate classes.
    • Participate in student recruitment, placement, adviser meetings, and serve on college committees.
    • Identify student learning outcomes; develop processes and tools for assessment; incorporate results to modify instruction and materials in coordination with colleagues.
  • Professional Development
    • Maintain high standards of competence in the discipline(s) and teaching methodologies through professional development activities.
    • Review, evaluate, reflect, and revise program curricula and teaching methods through a self‑evaluation process.
    • Meet or exceed professional standards, state‑mandated guidelines, and industry requirements.
  • Service
    • Actively participate in college meetings and committees, task forces, and councils.
    • Participate in college-related activities such as registration, community education, student recruitment, student retention, and faculty selection.
    • Assist student organizations to aid retention.
    • Engage in business and community activities that foster goodwill and promote the college mission and values.
    • Participate in activities required to maintain program and college accreditation standards.
    • Participate in setting departmental goals, developing college budgets, and planning to achieve those goals.
    • Promote and maintain departmental affiliation agreements and other partnerships.
    • Other duties as assigned.
  • Required Education

    The preferred qualifications are an associate's degree or higher in Industrial Instrumentation Technology or a closely related field. A minimum of three years of recent industry experience in instrumentation, process control, automation, or industrial systems is preferred. Successful applicants will demonstrate a strong understanding of industrial sensors, transmitters, control loops, PLCs, HMIs, calibration equipment, and possess excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

    Candidates should also demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of students, faculty, and staff from a variety of backgrounds. The successful candidate must be service‑oriented, promote excellence, and embrace a commitment to professionalism.
