General Studies offers a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with an individualized degree plan (IDP). Students design a unique plan combining courses from multiple disciplines, supported by core courses that foster interdisciplinary thinking.
Key courses include:
- SP 210 Minding the Gaps;
Interdisciplinary Communication (3 units) – discussions, debates, presentations, oral communication, critical listening, digital media. - SP 310 Interdisciplinary Inquiry (3 units) – interdisciplinary inquiry applied to problem solving and career development.
- SP 492 Senior Capstone Project (3 units) – research/creative project, e‑Portfolio.
- SP 482 Experiential Learning, Internship (1‑6 units) – practical experience, reflection.
Degree:
Master’s degree in any field required;
PhD preferred.
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
- Interdisciplinary education, research, or professional experience.
- Potential for effective teaching in Interdisciplinary Studies.
- Experience promoting a learning environment supportive of diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to teach using various methodologies, including online.
- Capability to mentor students with diverse interests.
- Collaborative working with program faculty and staff.
- Willingness to develop online learning experiences.
