Terms of Employment:
Teacher contract days (minimum 173 plus additional contracted days) with benefits according to Board policy.

Job Goal

The Behavioral Intervention Specialist provides consultation, coaching, one-to-one and group presentations, and classroom support, instructional and behavioral strategies for regular education and special education teachers, site personnel, and others providing instructional services to students with disabilities as directed by the Director of Special Education.

Essential

Job Skills
  • Experience developing and implementing district-wide behavior intervention programs; knowledge and experience with IEP processes, special education regulations, and multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and apply behavioral data effectively.
  • Proficiency in using data management software and behavior-tracking tools.
  • Experience in crisis intervention and conflict resolution strategies.
  • Strong skills in speaking and presenting to diverse audiences.
  • Comprehensive understanding of trauma-informed practices and their application in educational settings.
  • Knowledge of restorative practices and their implementation in both educational and real-world settings.
Essential Job Functions
  • Conduct informal student observations and provide detailed feedback to teachers, administrators, process consultants, and other stakeholders.
  • Collect and analyze behavioral data to support functional behavior assessments and perform formal student observations, compiling comprehensive written reports for Educational Evaluations as assigned.
  • Actively participate in IEP and Educational Evaluation meetings, contributing to the development and implementation of IEP goals and objectives.
  • Design and deliver professional development, technical training, and consultation for faculty, staff, administrators, and related service providers.
  • Stay up-to-date with current research and evidence-based best practices in behavior analysis.
  • Lead staff orientations and training sessions on behavior management and effective educational strategies.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, while fostering positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Maintain organized and confidential records and files in compliance with legal and district guidelines.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate reports related to student behavior and intervention effectiveness.
  • Develop individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) with measurable goals aligned with student needs.
  • Design data collection plans to track progress on behavioral goals and intervention effectiveness.
  • Model effective behavior intervention strategies and train staff in the implementation and data collection of behavior plans.
  • Ensure compliance with IDEA regulations through collaboration with staff and process consultants.
Physical Demands

Regularly required to sit, talk, and hear; frequently required to walk and use fingers; occasionally required to stand, reach, bend, and carry up to ten pounds. Close vision may be required for long periods of computer use.

Environment

The position will regularly be performed in a school environment that is noisy and active.

Compensation & Benefits

West Platte 2025-26 base compensation: $46,500. The District provides 100% Board paid Health Insurance, 50% Board paid dental, 50% Board paid vision, and Board paid life insurance. Position will remain open until filled.
