Summary
The job of Classroom Teacher is devoted to supporting the instructional process by serving as a teacher with specific responsibility for supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional or classroom issues; and responding to inquiries from students’ parents or guardians about instructional programs and student progress.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Collaborate with all stakeholders (students, parents, colleagues, etc.) to establish and maintain leadership and positive relationships, focusing on high expectations and continuous improvement for student learning.
- Design instruction, including lesson plans and individualized instruction for diverse learning styles and needs, ensuring all students are engaged and participating in learning objectives.
- Develop and guide learning in partnership with students, establishing classroom mission and learning goals; implementing strategies and processes that promote continuous improvement aligned with state and district standards.
- Evaluate individual student and class performance by analyzing assessment data and other comparative data, and adjust instruction to improve outcomes.
- Implement current best‑practice instruction and resources to enhance student learning in alignment with standards.
- Maintain documentation and required reports, such as student data, personal teaching certification, and other compliance records, to satisfy site, district, policy, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage classroom structure and procedures, including activities, behavioral expectations, and positive classroom culture, to create a safe and orderly learning environment.
- Model positive behaviors and professional conduct, including appropriate communication, ethics, and respect for diversity and mutual respect.
- Oversee assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, and/or student workers to ensure an efficient classroom structure that supports the teacher and students.
- Participate in meetings (team, building, professional development, parent‑teacher conferences, etc.) to convey or gather information necessary for job functions.
- Respond to emergency situations (e.g., building protocols, suspected child abuse, substance abuse) to resolve safety concerns and refer to appropriate personnel.
Other duties as assigned that are related to the functions of this position.
Essential Functions / Qualifications / RequirementsEducation and Experience
Bachelor’s degree required. Current Louisiana teacher certification.
