Special Olympics And Unified Champion Schools Coordinator
Qualifications:
Education Level: Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field (Master's preferred). Certification:
Must hold a valid Missouri Teaching Certificate (Special Education or related field preferred). Experience desired:
Experience working with students with disabilities and/or extracurricular program coordination. Other Requirements:
Knowledge of Special Olympics and Unified Champion Schools programming preferred Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills Ability to coordinate events and manage logistics Ability to collaborate with staff, students, families, and community partners Must successfully pass a background check satisfactory to the Board of Education
Performance Responsibilities:
Plans, organizes, and coordinates all Special Olympics and Unified Champion Schools programming. Recruits, supports, and oversees coaches and volunteers involved in Special Olympics and Unified programming. Coordinates logistics for events, including registration, transportation, equipment, schedules, and communication with families and staff. Serves as the district liaison to Special Olympics Missouri and other partner organizations. Promotes inclusive practices and opportunities for students with and without disabilities through Unified Champion Schools initiatives.
Collaborates with administrators, special education staff, and general education staff to ensure equitable student participation. Organizes and manages materials, uniforms, and equipment related to programming. Facilitates student leadership opportunities connected to Unified Champion Athletes programming. Communicates effectively with students, families, staff, and community stakeholders regarding events and participation. Maintains appropriate documentation, schedules, and program records. Maintains conduct suitable for working with students, district staff, and the public.
At the request of the Superintendent or designee, assists with other duties as assigned and complies with all district policies and procedures.
