The DAI is responsible for overseeing the operations of Army JROTC units in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System. The DAI is the chief administrator and instructional leader of the Army JROTC units. All JROTC instructors and JROTC support personnel employed by EBRPSS are directly under their supervision in all matters pertaining to program administrative duties and responsibilities as well as quality of classroom instruction and integrated-curricular activities.
The DAI ensures that the Army JROTC program follows law, regulations, policy, and principles.
- Coordinate with EBRPSS and Cadet Command Public Affairs Officer for news releases.
- Organize, coordinate, and direct JROTC co-curricular, service learning, and other activities. Evaluate service learning activities.
- Confer with principals on the effectiveness of the program.
- Develop and maintain a consolidated supply operation for Army JROTC units in the district, accounting for all government property issued to the units.
- Maintain files and provide recommendations on schools placed on probation; monitor disestablishment, and requisition curriculum materials for new programs.
- Conduct school visits to evaluate programs. Visit schools monthly.
- Prepare a district budget (Army funds) and make available to programs.
- Serve as JROTC Cadet Leadership Camp (JCLC) Commander on a rotating basis as directed by the Brigade Commander.
- Conduct research, evaluation, and follow-up to emphasize areas of success and determine areas in need of special attention.
- Enforce contractual agreement of the school district and Department of the Army.
- Review program staffing to support enrollment.
- Recommend changes to the Program of Instruction.
- Request curriculum materials and distribute.
- Assure preparation of the Master Training Schedule and submit to Brigade.
- Submit required reports.
- Provide school officials and units guidance for inspections. Ensure cadets are involved.
- Control budget and logistics. Monitor pay reimbursements.
- Establish, instill and enforce program standards.
- Maintain involvement in the school community by attending social events, athletic contests, PTO, and faculty meetings.
- Observe both the military and school chain of command.
- Abide by U.S. Army rules and regulations.
Other duties as assigned that are related to the functions of the position.
Essential Functions/Qualifications/RequirementsEducation and Experience
The applicant must be interviewed and approved by the U.S. Army Cadet Command. Must be a retired Army Commissioned Officer with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel (O-5) or Colonel (O-6). Must meet all Cadet Command eligibility and qualification standards and be Cadet Command certified as a JROTC Instructor. Must complete the JROTC Five-Step instructor training plan as prescribed in paragraph 8-4, Cadet Command Regulation 145-2.
A baccalaureate degree is required with master's level preferred. Two years previous experience as a Senior Army Instructor is required. Must be Government Purchase Card certified and a Cadet Command Certified Interviewer. Must be a retired Army Officer.

New employees coming to EBRPSS/current employees new to a position, must use the Verifent website to verify qualifying years of experience (outside of EBRPSS) aligned to the job description. All new employees to the district/current employees new to a position will receive 0 years of experience aligned to the job description until the verification of previous experience aligned to the job description is received.
Experience verifications must be received in the Office of Human Resources within the first 6 months of employment in order to be eligible for a retroactive payment.
