To assist in providing a safe and caring environment where children's natural excitement for exploring, discovering, and learning are nurtured; to provide a good foundation for elementary school, in accordance with each child's ability; and to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.

Schedule:

Monday
- Friday 10:30a to 4:30p

Pay Range: $16.64

This position requires either a valid Missouri Teacher or Substitute Teacher Certification. Please add a copy of your certification to the application.

Essential Functions:

• Assists in implementing a program that maintains the preschool philosophy and curriculum
• Relates, communicates, and interacts with children with patience and compassion
• Interacts effectively with staff and families in the program
• Completes 12 hours of in-service each year.
• Maintains CPR and First Aid Certification
• Maintain ethical behavior and confidentiality about students
• Performs any other duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to assist in providing an encouraging, caring, and safe environment for children
• Ability to assist teacher by setting up activities, preparing instructional materials, and documenting student progress
• Ability to assists students in physical tasks such as positioning, feeding, toileting, diapering and self-help skills
• Ability to assists with individual and small student groups
• Ability to assume responsibility, respect, confidentiality and patience and compassion with young children
• Ability to assume the responsibilities of the Teacher/Teacher Assistant when the Teacher /Teacher Assistant is absent
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
• Ability to judge when situations and/or information should be called to the attention of the supervisor
• Ability to learn and implement preschool curricular strategies
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
• Ability to supervise and interact with children on their level (bending, stooping, lifting, and sitting on the floor) across settings as assigned (classroom, playground, gym, lunch, crisis management)
• Ability to work in a variety of locations and travel throughout the building(s), including playgrounds, lunch rooms and hallways

Basic Requirements:

• College credit hours preferred/High School graduate required
• Experience working with children in a similar setting preferred
• Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position
