Reports To: Building Principal

To help students learn subject matter and/or skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible members of society.

• Valid Missouri teaching certificate for grades 9-12 Business
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with personnel, students, and patrons in individual and group settings.
• Knowledge of informal and formal assessment procedures and curriculum standards

• Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
• Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the district.
• Prepare for assigned classes and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superiors.
• Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, maintaining order in the classroom fairly and justly.
• Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and communicate these objectives to students.
• Employ instructional methods and materials most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
• Strive to implement the district's philosophy of education, curriculum, instructional goals, and objectives through instruction and action.
• Take all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Assess the progress of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
• Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and board policy.
• Be available to students and parents for education‑related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested under reasonable terms.
• Attend faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
• Cooperate with other staff members in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
• Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
• Take part in co‑curricular activities as assigned.
• Maintain open lines of communication with students and parents concerning academic and behavioral progress.
• Establish and maintain cooperative relations with others.
• Provide for ongoing professional growth through reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and advanced coursework.
• Counsel with colleagues, students, and parents regularly.
• Perform other duties assigned by the building principal.
