Title: Nuclear Instructor (Diablo Canyon Road, Avila Beach, CA)

Location: Diablo Canyon Road, Avila Beach, CA

Position Type: Contract, 100% onsite

Schedule: Alternating 4/10 work schedule

Role Summary

The primary responsibility is to implement and document the SAT process, which includes analyzing subject material, determining job performance measures, developing lessons, executing training, and evaluating the training process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze subject material for new and revised training.
  • Use the design process to determine job performance measures (JPMs), establish training settings, sequence training objectives, and identify test items from the objectives.
  • Develop lessons for classroom and laboratory settings, JPM performance evaluations, and test questions.
  • Execute developed training by thoroughly preparing to present the material and verifying that instructional facilities and resources are adequate and ready to provide a quality learning experience.
  • Evaluate training process by collecting data, including test results, feedback, and performance of post‑training evaluations.
Desired Expertise
  • Nuclear Maintenance Electrical Technical Expertise.
  • Proficiency in all areas of the ADDIE process, including supporting soft skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, general ability to navigate site systems for developing lessons, ability to build/construct lab activity mock‑ups).
  • Excellent platform skills.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Qualifications: 5+ years of maintenance experience at DCPP’s maintenance or training department, or 5+ years of experience in maintenance or training from another company.
  • Strongly Desired Electrical Maintenance Knowledge:
  • 5 years Electrical Maintenance Experience at another Nuclear Power Plant; or 7 years other Power Plant Electrical Experience (such as Gas Plant, Manufacturing Plant, etc.); or Completed Electrical Apprenticeship; or Electrical Engineering Degree with 1 year Nuclear Power Plant Experience.
Employment Conditions
  • Assignment requires onsite presence in Avila Beach, CA for the duration of the assignment.
  • Approved mobilization/demobilization expense of $1,000 for non‑local candidates.
  • Daily per diem (meals & lodging) approved for work week  rate if candidate is not local to the area.
  • Unescorted access badging with background check and drug screening performed by the client, not the supplier.
Job 2:
Nuclear Ops Instructor / Operations Training Instructor

Location: DCPP, Avila Beach, CA (onsite)

Schedule: Alternating 4/10 AWS.

Job Description

This role supports Diablo Canyon Power Plan Learning Services department, including accredited training programs in Operations, Maintenance, and Technical training.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain National Nuclear Accrediting Board accreditation for applicable training programs from the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO), including coordination of accrediting board preparation activities and assist/lead authoring of the accreditation self‑evaluation report (ASER).
  • Provide guidance and support to training supervisors and staff to ensure compliance with INPO accreditation guidelines and NRC regulations.
  • Design, develop, implement, and manage instructor‑training programs, including conducting initial and continuing instructor training to ensure a competent instructional staff.
  • Develop self‑assessment plans and coordinate the self‑assessment process for the training department, including preparation documents for the Training Challenge Board.
  • Develop, maintain, and implement the systematic approach to training (SAT) procedures and handbook guidance.
  • Perform instructor evaluations, including evaluation of instructor performance data and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Develop, implement, and manage performance indicators and metrics to maintain National Nuclear Accrediting Board accreditation.
  • May manage projects or initiatives.
  • Solve moderate to complex problems and take a new perspective on existing solutions.
