Tutor - Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics

Supports STEM students in achieving educational goals by providing professional assistance appropriate to courses.

• Provides individual and small group tutoring sessions in various academic disciplines in order to facilitate student mastery of concepts or applications of a specific course of study.
• Facilitates learning as a coach or mentor to assist students in becoming successful, independent learners.
• Integrates effective study and learning strategies to maximize students’ potential for academic progress.
• May assist students with the use of institutional and instructional technology.
• Assists with the development and delivery of tutor training.
• Creates supplemental materials including but not limited to handouts, study guides, and tip sheets for support center staff to use with students.
• Administers one-credit courses associated with academic labs (if applicable).
• Attends scheduled staff meetings and takes initiative to sustain and improve daily operations.
• Remains current on best practices, research and literature in the tutoring field.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Bachelors or Associates degree in a STEM related field.
• Experience directly working with students on academic skills.
• Knowledge of and experience with active learning and tutoring pedagogies.
