Part‑time Contract Trainer III:
Robotics, Mechatronics, and Electronics
The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering high‑quality, hands‑on instruction in robotics, mechatronics, and electronics for students, educators, workforce trainees, or industry participants. This role supports technical education and workforce development initiatives through project‑based learning, applied engineering activities, and industry‑aligned curriculum delivery.
The trainer will facilitate engaging classroom and laboratory instruction, mentor learners through technical projects, and ensure safe and effective use of equipment and tools. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with practical teaching or training experience and a passion for experiential learning.
Courses may be daytime, evening, or Saturdays depending on the need. Part‑time appointments are made on a semester‑by‑semester (as needed) basis.
Key Responsibilities- Facilitate engaging classroom and laboratory instruction, mentor learners through technical projects, and ensure safe and effective use of equipment and tools.
- Deliver project‑based instruction in robotics, automation, mechatronics, electronics, and related technical subjects.
- Facilitate hands‑on learning using industry‑standard tools, software, equipment, and instructional materials.
- Teach core concepts including electronics, sensors, microcontrollers, robotics programming, automation, troubleshooting, and lab safety.
- Support student projects, competitions, prototypes, and capstone activities.
- Implement and improve curriculum, lesson plans, lab activities, and instructional resources aligned with industry standards.
- Collaborate with staff, educators, employers, and industry partners while maintaining professional communication and staying current with emerging technologies.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and performance.
- Provide a supportive and engaging learning environment for all students.
- At least five (5) years of experience in robotics, mechatronics, industrial automation, electronics, or a closely related field.
- Relevant work‑related experience, recognized certifications, registered apprenticeship, and/or licensures may be considered in lieu of educational requirements.
- Working knowledge of robotics systems, mechatronics, and electronic systems, including installation, programming, integration, and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of electrical circuits, sensors, actuators, motors, control systems, and industrial automation principles.
- Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), robotics systems, or embedded systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and system layouts.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills in electrical, mechanical, and automated systems.
- Ability to work independently and manage instructional assignments.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
