SummaryThe classroom teacher supports the instructional process by supervising students, developing lesson plans and delivering instruction within curriculum guidelines, collaborating with staff, and responding to parent inquiries.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Collaborates with all stakeholders (students, parents, colleagues) for the purpose of establishing and maintaining leadership and positive relationships while focusing on high expectations and continuous improvement for student learning.
- Designs instruction (lesson plans, individualized instruction, diverse learning styles/needs) for the purpose of ensuring all students are engaged and participating.
- Develops and guides learning in partnership with students (classroom mission and learning goals, strategies, student recognition) for the purpose of continuous improvement for student learning in alignment with state and district standards.
- Evaluates individual student and class performance (analyses assessment data) for the purpose of gauging and adjusting instruction to improve performance.
- Implements current best practice instruction and resources for the purpose of improving student learning.
- Maintains documentation and required reports for the purpose of complying with site, district, and federal statutes.
- Manages classroom structure and procedures for the purpose of establishing a positive, safe learning environment.
- Models positive behaviors for the purpose of promoting appropriate social and interpersonal behavior.
- Oversees assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, and student workers to ensure effective classroom structure and participates in meetings for conveying and gathering information.
- Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
Other duties as assigned that are related to the functions of the position.
Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree required. Current Louisiana teacher certification.
