Rockwood R-6 School District, Eureka High School – Eureka, Missouri

Position: Full Day Preschool Classroom Aide

Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Starting Date: Immediately

Pay: $16.64 per hour (Part-Time)

POSITION SUMMARY: Assist in providing a safe and caring environment that nurtures children’s curiosity and learning, builds a foundation for elementary school according to each child’s ability, and establishes good relationships with parents and staff.

Location: Rockwood Summit High School – Full Day Preschool

• Assist in implementing a program that maintains the preschool philosophy and curriculum
• Relate, communicate with, and interact with children with patience and compassion
• Interact effectively with staff and families in the program
• Complete 12 hours of in-service training each year
• Maintain CPR and First Aid certification
• Maintain ethical behavior and confidentiality concerning students
• Perform any other duties as assigned

• Provide an encouraging, caring, and safe environment for children
• Assist the teacher by setting up activities, preparing instructional materials, and documenting student progress
• Assist students with physical tasks such as positioning, feeding, toileting, diapering, and self-help skills
• Assist with individual and small student groups
• Show responsibility, respect, confidentiality, patience, and compassion with young children
• Assume responsibilities of the Teacher/Teacher Assistant when absent
• Communicate clearly and effectively
• Identify when situations or information should be brought to the supervisor’s attention
• Learn and implement preschool curricular strategies
• Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
• Supervise and interact with children at their level (bending, stooping, lifting, sitting on the floor) across settings (classroom, playground, gym, lunch, crisis management)
• Work in a variety of locations and travel throughout the building(s) including playgrounds, lunch rooms, and hallways

• High-school graduate required; college credit hours preferred
• Experience working with children in a similar setting preferred
• Consistent and regular attendance required
