Special Education Teacher - Inclusion

This is a Special Education Teacher in Inclusion position, classifying within Exceptional Student Services. The successful candidate will serve as an inclusive classroom teacher, supporting the instructional process and helping students meet curriculum standards.

The job involves supervising students, developing lesson plans, delivering instruction, collaborating with colleagues, and responding to parent and guardian inquiries regarding student progress.

• Collaborates with all stakeholders (students, parents, colleagues, etc.) to establish and maintain positive relationships and high learning expectations.
• Designs instruction, lesson plans, and individualized instruction for diverse learning styles and needs, ensuring engagement and participation in learning objectives.
• Develops and guides learning in partnership with students, setting classroom missions, learning goals, and strategies aligned with state and district standards.
• Evaluates individual student and class performance by analyzing assessment data and adjusting instruction to improve outcomes.
• Implements best‑practice instruction and resources to meet student needs and goals, enhancing learning aligned with state and district standards.
• Maintains documentation and required reports such as student data records and certification status, complying with state, district, and federal regulations.
• Manages classroom structure and procedures, establishing a positive, safe, and orderly environment for learning.
• Models positive behaviors, including professional public image and respectful communication, to promote social and interpersonal skills.
• Oversees assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, and student workers to maintain an effective classroom structure.
• Participates in meetings (team, building, professional growth, parent conferences, etc.) to convey and gather information for effective functions.
• Responds to emergency situations (building protocols, suspected child abuse, substance abuse, etc.) to resolve safety concerns promptly.

Bachelor's degree required. Current Louisiana teacher certification.
