Pleasant Hope Schools is seeking applicants for the position of High School Counselor for the 2026-27 school year.
Pleasant Hope offers a 4‑day school week (Tuesday-Friday), competitive salary, full health benefits, and a family‑like working atmosphere. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience based upon the district’s salary schedule.

The counselor provides counseling programs, both crises and mental, to meet the social, emotional and academic and career needs of students.
Qualifications- Education:
Master's degree in education - Certification:
Guidance counselor certification - Experience:
Minimum of three years as a classroom teacher (preferred)
Reports to:
Building Principal
Teacher contract days plus 20 additional days

Position Responsibilities- Strives to implement the District’s philosophy, goals and objectives.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
- Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct.
- Makes provisions for being available to students and parents outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
- Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as needed.
- Works to promote a positive school‑community relationship.
- Reports incidents of suspected child abuse and neglect.
- Maintains an environment that enables students to have positive self‑esteem.
- Obeys all rules and policies established by the Board of Education and Administration.
- Assists in maintenance of student records and protection of confidentiality.
- Assists students with the development of positive self‑concept.
- Works with students on an individual basis in the solution of personal problems related to such problems as home and family relations, health and emotional adjustment.
- Requests records for students new to the school and orientates them to the school’s procedures and the varied opportunities for learning.
- Works to resolve students’ educational handicaps.
- Provides student information to colleges and potential employers according to provisions of the Board’s policy on student records.
- Works to discover and develop special abilities of students.
- Helps students evaluate career interests and choices.
- Interprets the guidance program to the community.
- Provides in‑service training in counseling for teachers and student teachers.
- Coordinates testing and interprets results.
- Serves as a member of the multidisciplinary team.
- Should be in sufficient health to perform the essential functions of the job.
- All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Administrator.

Salary$40,000 to $54,000 Per Year
