Long Term Substitute - Elementary Music

Elementary Music Teacher

The Valley Park School District is seeking a talented educator for a long-term substitute teaching assignment as an Elementary Music Teacher, serving from August 28th through November 20, 2026.

Position Summary:

To develop a classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth and establish effective rapport with students while motivating students to develop music skills and knowledge needed to provide a strong foundation for music education.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and follow lesson plans and instructional materials.
• Provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the music curriculum to the needs of each student and class.
• Ensure instruction aligns with engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
• Communicate regularly with parents.
• Establish and maintain standards of behavior to achieve a safe and effective learning atmosphere.
• Evaluate students' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare grade reports as needed.
• Identifies student needs, makes appropriate referrals, and develops strategies for individual education plans.
• Creates an environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, interest centers, and exhibits of students' work.
• Other duties as assigned by the building administration.

Certification:
Missouri Substitute Teaching Certificate
- Required

Valid teaching certificate in the State of Missouri for Middle School Science
- Preferred

Education/

Experience:

Bachelor's Degree
- Preferred

Compensation: $190.00/day
