Now Accepting Applications for Youth Leadership Opportunity in IE Arts Organization
Inlandia Institute, the IE’s literary arts organization, is seeking high school juniors/seniors and college students in the Inland Empire for new youth positions on its board of directors. These are unpaid, voluntary leadership positions.
WHATInlandia Institute offers writing workshops and cultural programs, and publishes books.
WHO- One student will represent San Bernardino County.
- Another student will represent Riverside County.
- What type of literary events would interest other teens/young adults? Slam poetry events Creativewriting workshops? College essay writing?
- What social media is the best way to reach out to youth in the IE?
Mandatory Zoom monthly meetings (fourth Tuesday of the month at 5-6:30 p.m.) required. Youth Board Members will serve one-year terms, with the option to apply for a second year. Youth Board Members will also help form and lead a new Youth Advisory Council.
High school students:
One youth board member will be a sophomore or junior in high school in San Bernardino County or Riverside County during the 2026-27 school year. As a minor, this board member will not have voting privileges but will have a seat on the board and be expected to represent high school students.
College students:
One youth board member will be a student attending community college or a four-year college or university in San Bernardino County or Riverside County during the 2026-27 school year. This youth board member will have voting privileges and represent college students.
It’s OK if you don’t have leadership experience but please provide thoughtful answers to the questions so we can determine proper fit for this position. This is an opportunity for youth to train to be leaders as board members of a nonprofit organization. Please note that minors must obtain parent approval to become an Inlandia youth board member if selected. Finalists will be interviewed via Zoom.
