Job GoalTo assist with a teacher, group of teachers, or throughout the building to provide a well-organized, smoothly functioning environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials.
Requirements- A minimum of thirty-sixty college hours from an accredited college or university is required, pass the Paraprofessional test in the State of Missouri or Missouri 20-hour Online Substitute Training Program, sixty college hours is preferred.
- Twenty-one (21) years of age.
- Be able to read and write. Have the ability to understand, and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
- Demonstrate an interest in youth and their educational welfare.
- Ability and desire to assist the teacher in providing an educational opportunity for the handicapped child to attain his/her maximum potential.
- Experience in working with children in a group setting.
- Ability to work well with learning community, parents teachers, students, administrators and staff with courtesy, tact, and good judgment along with having good customer service skills.
- Be of good character, neat in personal appearance, dependable, reliable, prompt, and flexible and have pleasing manners and personality.
- Ability to cooperate with teachers and willingness to take directions from teaching staff.
- Ability to stay uninvolved unless directed by the teacher, even if a situation is perceived differently than the teacher sees it.
Annual Salary Range for the School Year: $22,695 - $37,809 (dependent upon experience and qualifications)
