InSummer and Fall A 2026, combine materials from the Online Classroom Research & Assessment Course and the previous 15-weekMIIS Assessment course intoa course forworld language teachers in a range of contexts, from elementary school through higher education, focused on languages other than English.
Core Responsibilities:- Designs a 7-module online asynchronous course called
Language Assessment to be delivered over a 7-week period inFall B 2026. - All content should be contextualized for teachers of languages other than English, andapply to a range of contexts.
- Each module should include an introductory video to each module, video lectures, audio lectures, links to pre-made readings,videosand podcasts, no more than 2 discussion forums per module, and design activities whichdemonstratethe knowledge, skills and dispositions addressed in the module.
- For the final assessment in the course, in-language readers may be engaged to comment on student designs
- Have a doctoral degreein
Applied Linguisticsor a closely related field - Have experienceteachingcourses in teacher education programs
- Have experience successfully designing and delivering online asynchronous courses
- Knowledge of Canvas as a learning management platform ,and technical tools tofacilitateengagement in an online synchronous course
- Deep working knowledge of the ACTFL Proficiency Skill and the Can-Do statements associated with the different skills at differentproficiencylevels
- Familiarity with the ACTFL World Language Readiness Standards
Working Conditions:
- Must be able towork at a computer, either standing or sitting, and access the content of written documents, audio files, and videos.
