The Substitute Teacher provides classroom instruction in the absence of the regular teacher while supporting the mission and values of the Catholic school. The substitute maintains a safe, orderly, and faith-filled learning environment, follows lesson plans, and promotes the academic, spiritual, social, and emotional development of students.
Job Responsibilities- Follow the lesson plans and instructions provided by the classroom teacher.
- Supervise students in the classroom, hallways, cafeteria, playground, and other assigned areas.
- Maintain a positive, respectful, and disciplined learning environment.
- Teach assigned subjects and facilitate learning activities appropriate to students' grade levels.
- Foster a classroom atmosphere that reflects Catholic values, respect, and Christian behavior.
- Lead or participate respectfully in daily prayer and school faith activities as appropriate.
- Take attendance and maintain accurate classroom records during the assignment.
- Communicate any concerns, incidents, or significant classroom events to the principal or designated administrator.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all students by following school policies and emergency procedures.
- Leave the classroom organized and provide a summary of the day's activities for the regular teacher.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and school matters.
Valid substitute teaching certification or state-required credentials (if applicable). Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred. Knowledge of classroom management techniques. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to adapt quickly to different grade levels and classroom environments. Supportive of the mission, philosophy, and values of Catholic education.
