Location: Parkville

Adjunct Faculty – Term‑by‑term position.

Appointments are made on a term‑by‑term basis. Adjunct faculty are required to successfully complete an online Canvas LMS orientation course before being scheduled, as well as other training if required by the department. This is a face‑to‑face course. Local applicants only.

Responsibilities
  • Teach and develop course materials for EN105 Critical Reading, Writing and Thinking Across Contexts, emphasizing discovery, writing as thinking, and critical dialogue through portfolios.
  • Teach EN106 First‑Year Writing Seminar II, focusing on academic reading, research skills, source evaluation, multimodal writing, and academic integrity.
  • Engage students in peer review, revision, and reflective writing practices.
Qualifications
  • Minimum: M.A., M.F.A., or Ph.D. in English or in one of the primary subfields – Literature, Rhetoric/Composition, Professional and Technical Writing, or Creative Writing.
  • Ph.D. or other terminal degree preferred.
  • Evidence of at least two semesters of teaching experience at a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Evidence of at least one graduate‑level course in composition, rhetoric, or writing pedagogy, or significant professional development in writing pedagogy (e.g., conference attendance, workshops, seminars).
  • If holding a graduate degree in a closely related discipline, must also have 18 hours or more of graduate coursework in English.
