Position Summary

The Substitute Teacher is responsible for maintaining a productive learning environment in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. This role follows lesson plans, manages classroom behavior, supports student learning, and ensures the safety and well-being of all students while adhering to school policies and procedures.

• Implement lesson plans and instructional activities provided by the regular teacher
• Maintain a positive, safe, and orderly classroom environment
• Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, and other school settings as assigned
• Adapt to various grade levels, subjects, and classroom needs
• Manage student behavior in accordance with school policies and expectations
• Take attendance and maintain accurate records as required
• Communicate relevant information regarding student progress, behavior, or concerns to the regular teacher and administration
• Support students' academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs
• Follow all school procedures related to safety, emergency protocols, and confidentiality
• Collaborate professionally with school staff and administrators

• High school diploma or equivalent (required)
• Substitute teaching certificate, permit, or eligibility as required by state regulations
• Previous experience working with children or youth preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to follow written lesson plans and instructions
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
• Flexible, dependable, and adaptable to changing assignments

• Experience in classroom supervision or educational settings
• Effective classroom management skills
• Ability to engage students and maintain instructional continuity
• Comfort using classroom technology and educational tools
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Positive attitude and commitment to student success
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and administrators
• Willingness to serve across multiple grade levels and subject areas as needed
