Position OverviewCulver-Stockton College seeks an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice to begin August 2026. The position involves teaching a broad range of criminal justice and legal studies courses, including criminal law, constitutional law, trial advocacy, and dispute resolution. The role is primarily face-to-face, with some online teaching as needed. The college emphasizes experiential learning, student success, and liberal arts education.
Key Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate courses in criminal justice and legal studies
- Advise and mentor students on academic and career development
- Participate in departmental, college, and community service activities
- Assist with student recruitment
- Engage in scholarly or professional activities
- Contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and accreditation efforts
- Optional:
Serve as Title IX coordinator
- Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, J.D., or a closely related field by the appointment date
- Experience teaching undergraduate criminal justice or related courses
- Strong commitment to liberal arts education, experiential learning, and student success
- ABD candidates (for tenure‑track)
- Master’s degree candidates (for renewable, non‑tenure‑track lecturer positions)
- Professional experience in law
- Strong academic advising skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
