Job Description- Essential Function 1:
Teaching a minimum of 15 credits per semester;- Writing syllabi and lesson plans.
- Teaching online in Moodle
- Conducting courses according to the scheduled time.
- Teaching to the required outcomes.
- Assessing student outcomes
- Essential Function 2.
- Participating in faculty in-service and orientation meetings.
- Sharing teaching strategies with colleagues
- Being available to advise students during the registration and early registration periods.
- Aiding assigned students in selecting the correct courses to meet their goals at CMI , for transfer, and for their careers.
- Assisting graduating students in understanding their options for career and transfer.
- Essential Function 4.
- Assessing outcomes for one SLO per course per semester.
- Participating in the writing of the Liberal Arts Program Review and Program Review Report.
- Reviewing outlines in areas of expertise and revising as necessary.
- Essential Function 5.
- Participate in service committees.
- Attend required departmental and Dean with faculty meetings.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience- A Master’s Degree in one or more of the Social Sciences (Sociology, Geography, History)
- Experience teaching a broad range of Social Sciences courses
- Familiarity with the Pacific Culture will be an advantage.
Preferences will be given to applicants with:
- A Master’s Degree or higher in Social Sciences specializing in Sociology.
- Professional qualification in, or proven experience of, online teaching.
- Possession of a TESL / TEFL certification.
- International teaching experience in an ESL setting.
- Community college teaching experience.
- Experience with, or training in, outcomes assessment.
- Academic advising experience.
- Evidence of participation in departmental, college, or community service.

A Social Sciences Instructor is responsible for planning, developing, and delivering apt and culturally-relevant educational services to students in their respective classes and areas of major. They provide instructions through promoting interactive and collaborative learning lessons and generate, and deliver related educational content. The successful candidate will teach a variety of Social Sciences courses, which may include Sociology, Geography and History.
Other responsibilities will include departmental, and college service, academic advising, and outcomes assessment.
