- NYS Certification in Reading
- Demonstrated commitment to district values and vision.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Dedication to ongoing professional learning in Adolescent Literacy and the Science of Reading.
- Knowledge of the Science of Reading research, NYS Science of Reading Briefs, and interventions such as Orton-Gillingham, specifically for struggling adolescent readers.
- Experience working with middle or high school students.
- Instruction:
Design and deliver engaging, student-centered lessons grounded in evidence-based literacy practices. - Environment:
Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom where students are challenged and supported. - Assessment:
Monitor student progress, provide timely feedback, and implement targeted, evidence-based interventions. - Collaboration & Communication:
Partner effectively with families, staff, and administration; maintain accurate progress reports (including RTIM/Frontline). - Leadership:
Support colleagues' understanding of reading and writing across the content areas. - Professional Engagement:
Actively participate in department and PLC meetings. - All teachers who are new to Greece will be required to attend two teacher induction days in August.
