Job Description

The Pleasant Hope R-VI School District is seeking applications for any future administrative openings. Pleasant Hope offers a 4-day school week (Tuesday-Friday), competitive salary, full health benefits, and a family‑like working atmosphere. The successful candidate will hold a valid Missouri principal certificate, strong leadership, organization, effective communication skills, a desire to work collaboratively as a member of a Professional Learning Community, and the ability to effectively integrate progressive and innovative solutions that are student‑centered to meet the needs of families and service partners.

The principal is responsible for the program of administration, supervision and evaluation of instruction in his/her respective buildings, consistent with the general policies of the Board of Education. In collaboration with administrators, directors, educators, and the community, the principal will provide positive and strategic leadership to inspire, achieve, and maintain a shared vision for learning. Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to those listed below as in accordance with the Pleasant Hope R-VI School District and Board of Education policies and regulations under the direction of the Superintendent of Schools: fosters a positive and meaningful environment between students, staff, families, and community, professional development and instructional planning and implementation, ensure the proper use and upkeep of buildings, grounds, equipment and supplies, maintain adequate records of school funds, facilitate requisitions for building supplies, maintain accurate inventories, obtain quotes for prospective resources, ensure confidentiality of records, limit interruptions to classroom learning, oversee all operations of the assigned school building, attend administrative team meetings, facilitate safety and character education programs within the school, conduct emergency drills on a quarterly basis, appropriate supervision and evaluation of teaching and learning and all staff assigned to the building, continuous review and development of curriculum, continuous review of data/assessments and implementation planning, scheduling coordination, appropriate reporting of student and staff concerns, hiring and recruiting responsibilities, and perform other duties as may be assigned by the superintendent.

At least three years of administrator experience is preferred. Salary will be a minimum of $70,000 commensurate with education and experience with a 10.5‑month contract and extracurricular supervision duties.

Performance Responsibilities:
Instructional Leadership

  • Facilitates the development of programs and monitors implementation of curriculum that meets the needs of all the students.
  • Analyzes and utilizes all summative, formative, and common assessment data for the improvement of curriculum for instruction and student achievement.
  • Maintains a school‑wide climate and organization for learning (high expectations, cooperation, support, positive attitudes, etc.).
  • Facilitates the development of curriculum/instructional programs based on theories, research findings, and needs assessment results.
  • Identifies and communicates effective teaching strategies, classroom management strategies, and strategies for altering pupil behaviors.
  • Incorporates computer and other technology into the management and instructional processes.
  • Provides on‑going technical assistance to teachers.
  • Works with special educators in leading the building ARC and in implementing the IEP for special education students to appropriately modify instruction, services, and expectations for students referred for special education placement.
