For over 62 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Sacramento Area (BBBSGSA) has helped children and youth realize their full potential through the power of mentoring. Our mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. Our vision is that all youth achieve their full potential. Our purpose is to build and sustain meaningful relationships that help young people reach their biggest possible futures.

Serving Sacramento, Placer, Yolo, El Dorado, Amador, Nevada, Sierra, Sutter, Yuba, and San Joaquin counties, BBBSGSA partners with schools, businesses, higher education institutions, and community organizations to expand access to mentoring opportunities for young people facing adversity. Through school-based, community-based, workplace, and career readiness programs, BBBSGSA helps youth strengthen academic engagement, develop social-emotional skills, build confidence, and prepare for postsecondary education, careers, and lifelong success.

BBBSGSA recognizes that mentoring is one piece of a broader ecosystem of support needed for young people to thrive. By collaborating with schools, employers, and community partners, the organization helps increase access to educational opportunities, career exploration, workforce development experiences, and supportive adult relationships that contribute to stronger academic outcomes and long-term economic mobility.

As the need for youth mentoring continues to grow across the Greater Sacramento region, BBBSGSA is committed to expanding its reach through strategic partnerships, increased volunteer engagement, and sustainable funding. By using data-informed practices and listening to the needs of youth, families, schools, and community partners, BBBSGSA continues to strengthen its impact and ensure more young people have the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

The Program Quality & Data Ameri Corps VISTA Member will strengthen the organizational capacity of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Sacramento Area by developing sustainable systems that improve program quality, data management, and operational efficiency. The VISTA member will develop standardized data collection processes, create tools and protocols to strengthen database accuracy, develop reporting tools and dashboards, document program procedures, and streamline internal workflows.

They will develop resources that enable staff to analyze program outcomes, identify data trends, and support continuous quality improvement and informed decision-making. The VISTA member also creates templates, guides, and internal resources that strengthen program consistency across sites. These capacity-building efforts will improve organizational effectiveness, enhance data-driven decision-making, strengthen program evaluation, and support long-term sustainability and growth of mentoring programs.
