The Division of Special Education is composed of many departments and plays a vital role in supporting students with disabilities and the educators who serve them. The Deaf
* Education Program serves students ages 3–22 with documented hearing differences that may impact language, communication, and access to curriculum. Their mission is rooted in advocacy, respect, and leadership in support of meaningful access for every learner. All languages, communication supports (e.g., ASL/English interpreters, captioning, hearing technology, etc.), and educational approaches in the education of Deaf children are valid and valued.

They aim to empower students to actively engage in their education and thrive in their communities and future endeavors.

• Deaf is an umbrella term encompassing identities that may change over time and place, including Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Deaf Blind, Deaf with Disabilities, & Late-Deafened.

• Insurance:

An Instructional Aide for Students Who Are Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing
- Signing assists by presenting educational materials and exercises related to classroom instruction to students who are deaf and hard-of-hearing. General supervision is received from a site administrator or designee. General and technical supervision is received from a certificated specialist. No supervision is exercised.
