Librarian Faculty

Part-Time Reference Librarian (3 positions)

each working four (4) to eight (8) hours per week

Will support student-centered learning, focusing on building library research skills and engaging students with the tools of scholarship. This part-time position will provide reference services to the campus community with a schedule that may include nights or weekends. The person in this position may also be assigned to work on project-related assignments such as Lib Guides, copy cataloging, developing outreach materials, hold library information literacy sessions as assigned, and other work.

Master of Library Science (or equivalent) from an ALA accredited program

• Master of Library Science (or equivalent) from an ALA accredited program
• Experience providing one-on-one reference and research services to a diverse population
• Evidence of flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to work successfully in a complex, dynamic, and diverse environment with competing demands
• Evidence of a strong commitment to reference services and service excellence to a diverse community
• Demonstrated forward-thinking approach to challenges and opportunities
• Evidence of effective cross-cultural interpersonal and communication skills (i.e., multicultural competencies)
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a diverse community and team environment
• Applicants should demonstrate the ability to effectively engage with a broad student population and provide mentorship that supports student academic success.

• Experience with the Springshare suite, Alma, Canva, familiarity with bibliographic record formats and metadata systems is helpful.
• Professional experience in an academic library setting
• Experience working with library users of diverse ages, as well as from various socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds

California State University Librarian 12month Salary Schedules (anticipated hiring ranges)

Placement into a range is based on qualifications and experience. Initial assignments are typically at the bottom third of the salary range. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules above are prorated to the number of units worked.
