Position: Dean & Director, South County

  • Develops, articulates, and presents thevisionforthe

    South

    Countyincollaboration withsiteanddistrictleadership.

    Translatesvisionintostrategicgoalsandadvances the college mission in accordance with the strategic planning objectives.
  • Overseesoperationsatthecenterthatprovidesaone-stopserviceforstudents.
  • Assists academic leadership in providing curricular improvements in relation to college-wide goals by initiating, sustaining, delivering, or eliminating academic programs and core curricula in accordance with strategic planning goals. Supervises construction of class schedules based on student and program needs.
  • Leadsandcoordinatesassessmentactivitiestodocumentandadvancedivisionand college activities, initiatives, and development.
  • Leadsandcoordinatesassigneddistrict-wide initiatives.
  • Five (5) years of full-time experience in higher education including significant teaching experience.
  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution required, terminal degree preferred.
  • Progressively responsible administrative experience preferred.
  • Community college experience preferred.
  • Facilitatestheresolutionofdisagreementorconflictamongstakeholders.
  • Ensurestheacademicqualityofspecialprogramsassignedtothecollege.
  • Managesallfiscalmattersatsitelevelwithingivenbudgetlimitations.
  • Consistent with district enrollment management, implements initiatives to promote special events designed to recruit students and promote the college and the center.
  • Conducts evaluation of faculty and staff.
  • Workswithdepartmentchairs,faculty liaisons,andtheCCAOstocreateand facilitate dual credit/dual enrollment opportunities, including identifying opportunities for new partnerships and ensuring compliance at all levels.
  • Collects,analyzes,andutilizesdataforcontinuousprogramimprovement.
  • Maintainsprofessionalandtechnicalknowledgeinhighereducationleadership.
  • Developsandrecommendsoperationalstaffpoliciestoassureinnovation,quality, continuous improvement,andgrowthofthecenterinsupportofthe

    College’sand division’s strategic plans and mission.
  • In collaboration with the CCAOs, VCAA, and the Chancellor, establishes communitypartnershipsthatalignwiththemissionandstrategicinitiativesofthe College. Represents the site and the College to students, parents, professional organizations, articulation partners, business, and industry in cooperation with Marketing and Communication.
  • Meetswithareaemployerstoassess trainingandeducationneeds.
  • Collaborates with Centerstaffanddistrictadmissionsstaffinschedulingvisitsto localhighschools and in participating in career day activities.
  • Expandsstudentsupportprogramsthatarecommunityandneedsbased.

    Hosts student recognition events to celebrate academic achievements.
  • Serves in the capacity of a student affairs officer at South County, handling student conduct and other student-related issues as directed by the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.
  • Communicatesinformationeffectivelytobothsupervisorsandsupervisees.
  • Otherdutiesas assigned.
  • Generally, works in an office and campus environment.
  • Most travel is of a local nature with occasional travel outside of the state of Missouri.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Visual acuity to read words and numbers.
  • Sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment.
  • Speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate in person or over the telephone.
  • Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force and occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
