Your Role

PAC is seeking a self‑motivated individual to perform installation, routine maintenance, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate and test electronic instrumentation and related electromechanical equipment used in Gas Chromatography (GC) and Elemental Analyzers in the Petro‑Chemical industry in major refineries and independent laboratories according to ASTM methods. The position requires up to 90% travel to customer locations primarily throughout the West Coast area and various other territories based on business needs.

Candidates must reside in the greater Los Angeles area and be able to meet DISA and ASAP policy requirements to access all customer sites.

ESSENTIAL TASKS
  • Provide field service support, including installation, preventive maintenance, calibration, validation, basic troubleshooting and breakdown repairs on PAC’s Gas Chromatography and Elemental product lines.
  • Service may be performed at customer sites or in‑house.
  • Provide telephone support as needed; perform regular maintenance, calibrations, validations, and check sensing, measuring, and recording instrumentation and circuitry; test and verify all functions of equipment used in laboratories according to characteristics of equipment under test and capabilities of test apparatus.
  • Operate GC and Elemental analyzers during test cycles to produce, regulate and record effects of actual or simulated conditions such as flash point, distillation, cold properties, evaporative loss, viscosity, vibration and other physical property tests, and determine elemental composition (e.g., sulfur, nitrogen, fluoride).
  • Use computerized equipment, test equipment, and software to perform testing functions.
  • Manage assigned repair inventory to ensure accuracy of individual and main warehouse; document inventory transfer before and after service calls.
  • Maintain knowledge of product specifications and keep up on product and software updates.
  • Promote good customer relationships through professional communication and exceptional customer service.
  • Strong organizational, time‑management, follow‑through and follow‑up skills, balancing technical aspects with administrative requirements.
  • Always observe essential safety policies and procedures within the company and at customer sites.
  • Assist with related special projects as required.
  • Respond to change productively and handle other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry preferred.
    • Minimum five years of Chemistry experience in the petro‑chemical industry with GC or Elemental analyzers and software, or similar, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Knowledge of the petroleum/refining industry and ASTM methods related to PAC instruments a plus.
    • Two years relevant field service experience preferred.

    • Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
    • Successful customer interaction experience.
    • Proficiency with computer tools, Microsoft email, and ERP applications.
    • Solid working knowledge of industrial field service.
    • Excellent analytical, follow‑through/follow‑up, time‑management and organizational skills.

    Qualifications:

    • 90% travel required; may require international travel.
    • Must meet customer‑required compliance with DISA and ASAP policies.
    • Current driver’s license; passport provided at company expense when required.
Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in California is $36.00 - $43.00. The salary within this range will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications, including skills, knowledge, education, and experience.
