Job Description

Develops solutions for HVAC control systems and related equipment by reviewing requirements, evaluating appropriate hardware solutions, developing embedded applications, and assisting in documentation and deployment of those solutions.

• Develop integrated applications for microcontrollers and embedded control systems using languages such as C and C++, running either bare metal or in a Linux embedded operating system.
• Design and implement object-oriented software in harmony with existing applications and following industry best practices.
• Work closely with hardware engineers to ensure completed solutions fulfill the requirements for a given product.
• Work independently and in collaboration with a software team to develop solutions to meet business and industry needs.
• Drive innovation in the field of smart control systems, telemetry, and building management systems.
• Develop test methods, procedures, and applications to validate system operations.
• Possess an interest in HVAC systems (thermodynamics, control systems, civil engineering, energy efficiency, etc.), embedded systems, bare-metal applications, networking, security, and IoT technology.
• Desire to make an impact in a rapidly changing industry.
• Document operations, write test procedures, and assist in developing user manuals.
• Develop test methods, procedures, and applications to assist production with validation and quality control checks.
• Provide technical support internally and directly to customers as required.
• Perform maintenance work and updates on existing software.
• Manage time with minimal oversight on multiple concurrent projects.
• Maintain product and company reputation by complying with company policies including confidentiality and compliance with federal, state, and industry regulations.
• Advance professional and technical knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, studying new and advanced programming techniques, reviewing professional publications, and utilizing web-based resources.

Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university and 5+ years of experience. Degree in Electronics Engineering or combined degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering plus Electrical Engineering preferred. Experience in HVAC Controls or BMS is a plus.

Valid licensed driver for independent travel to job sites as required.

• Ability to read schematics of microprocessor and microcontroller systems, including power supply and analog input/output circuitry.
• Ability to use a DVM and oscilloscope for system troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Teams and Office software.

• Lift up to 10 lbs.
• Sit for up to 85 percent of work hours.
• Close vision and ability to adjust focus.
• Primary work environment is in office; however, occasionally when traveling to job sites or AAON manufacturing plants, exposure to potentially hazardous places, outdoor weather conditions, and work with equipment on building rooftops with risk of electrical shock may occur.
