Position

Description

Currently, HGL has a position open for an experienced mid‑level Civil or Environmental Engineer to support the St. Louis Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP) project in St. Louis, Missouri. The engineering responsibilities will include developing construction design documents specifically related to excavation and earth work supporting environmental remediation. This is an on‑site position based in our St. Louis, MO office.

The work schedule is Monday‑Thursday 6:30 am – 5:00 pm.

Responsibilities
  • Developing construction design documents for excavations and earth work.
  • Work closely with geologists for the development of appropriate excavation plans.
  • Work with the CAD and GIS departments to develop engineering drawings.
  • Develop appropriate specifications.
  • Assist with coordinating subcontractor activities, ensuring schedules, work quality, and environmental controls are met during remedial action.
  • Identify field issues, communicate effectively with project management, and propose practical solutions.
Required Skills
  • BA/BS in Civil, Environmental, Geological, or Construction Engineering, or another related Engineering field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of directly related experience.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, including MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Must be able to work in a construction‑type environment and manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Effective oral and written communication, presentation skills, and the ability to complete projects independently and / or in small teams.
  • Attention to detail and quality required.
Preferred Skills
  • Working knowledge of floodplain construction and permitting.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar software.
  • OSHA 40‑Hour HAZWOPER certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • P.E. Certification
Details

A pre‑hire drug test and physical are required. A valid driver’s license and favorable driving record are required.

Project hours are 6:30 am‑5 pm Monday‑Thursday. Alternate or extended shift scheduling may be required short‑term to meet project demands.

The salary range for this position ranges from $71,868.00‑$. This position's final salary can be impacted by various factors including, but not limited to, contractual requirements, geographic location, job‑related education, training, experience, and skills.
