Support the oldest “green” form of electricity generation by working with our state-of-the-art, second-largest conventional hydroelectric plant! Learn firsthand about the important role conventional hydroelectricity plays in providing flexible, continuously available energy to firm up renewable solar and wind energy used by our Agency’s members. Report daily to the NCPA office in Murphys, CA, to assist in performing various types of basic engineering work assignments within the NCPA Generation Services departments.

This position will work full-time Monday through Thursday during the summer in Murphys, CA.

Examples of Duties
  • Gather, compile, tabulate, and report statistical data.
  • Assist in research projects, special reports, and special projects.
  • Compile requests for proposals and bid documents.
  • Organize electronic and hard copy drawings and construction plans.
  • Assist with warehouse inventory counts.
  • Respond to inquiries and requests for assistance.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Academic status at an accredited college or university taking courses as a full-time student leading to a Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering degree or a degree in a field related to the work which is performed.

Knowledge of
  • General Engineering Methodologies in Civil or Mechanical discipline.
  • Recordkeeping and organizational methodologies.
  • Office equipment and systems such as phones, copiers, scanners, and email.
Ability to
  • Be self-paced and motivated and request help when needed.
  • Use research techniques, methods, and procedures.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Collect, compile, analyze, interpret, and present statistical data.
  • Routinely work outdoors in severe weather conditions, walk up and down steep slopes, and climb ladders with a 25-pound backpack.
