L.A. Gauge Company is seeking a Quality Engineer to support and strengthen our aerospace quality systems and inspection operations. This role is responsible for ensuring AS9100 compliance, conducting audits, coordinating inspections, and driving corrective/preventive actions. The Quality Engineer will also support the inspection department, document inspection processes, and collaborate with internal teams and customers. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Responsibilities- Write, update, and maintain procedures to ensure compliance with AS9100 standards.
- Conduct internal audits and support corrective and preventive action initiatives.
- Investigate returned parts, perform analysis, and communicate findings to customers.
- Support the inspection department by distributing priorities, minimizing queue times, and addressing personnel needs.
- Document clear and accurate mechanical inspection instructions in job routers.
- Amend sketches in Solid Works to support inspection and engineering needs.
- Coordinate and support source inspections with customers and external agencies.
- Perform contract reviews and data package reviews.
- Monitor supplier process capability and track quality performance.
- Manage calibration to ensure all shop floor tools remain compliant.
- Undergraduate degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering preferred.
- 3+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment (aerospace preferred).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including documentation and reporting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Familiarity with Solid Works and CAD-based documentation.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
