B&J Civil Design Engineer - Orange County, CA

Brandow & Johnston is seeking a Civil Design Engineer in Orange County, CA.

We provide civil engineering and consulting services for projects with an emphasis on urban infill and school/university campuses. Project types include:

• Project due diligence, feasibility and master planning
• Public works and infrastructure
• Grading, paving and earthwork analysis
• SWPPP developer/practitioner (QSD/QSP)
• Stormwater quality management plans (NPDES MS4)
• Flood control and hydrology/hydraulic analysis
• Street, sewer, water and natural gas distribution systems
• BIM/site and utility 3D modeling

• Provide engineering design, calculations, and preparation of plans and specifications in accordance with federal, state and local agency requirements and general engineering design standards.
• Establish and maintain communication, responsiveness and effective working relationships with design team, clients, consultants, and contractors.
• Provide construction administration and support, including but not limited to resolving field issues, reviewing material submittals, and addressing contractor RFIs.
• Meet, coordinate and provide processing with various utility companies, review agencies and municipalities to expedite project approvals and permitting.
• Create and develop detailed engineering designs using CAD and Civil‑3D software and other design tools.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to understand project requirements, objectives, and constraints.
• Perform calculations, simulations, and tests to validate design concepts and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Generate and review technical documentation, including design specifications, drawings, and reports.
• Stay updated with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices to continuously improve design processes and outcomes.
• Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and client presentations to communicate design concepts and progress.
• Perform other tasks as required.

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university; required.
• 0–2 years of experience in the same or similar role.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D; preferred.
• City/County of Los Angeles and urban infill development experience; preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of general engineering principals and general engineering design.
