Overview

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Drafter to join a collaborative engineering team supporting large‑scale industrial equipment projects. In this role, you will create high‑quality 2D and 3D engineering drawings that form the backbone of fabrication, field erection, and construction efforts. You'll work closely with engineers, designers, and fabrication partners to ensure designs are accurate, constructible, and aligned with internal standards and customer specifications.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys technical detail, thrives in a team‑based environment, and can adapt quickly to shifting project priorities.

Key Responsibilities

* Create, revise, and maintain 2D and 3D detail and general arrangement drawings using multiple CAD platforms

* Develop and update design standards, guidelines, and CAD templates to support consistency and quality

* Prepare and check detailed drawings for large mechanical components using inputs from multiple engineering disciplines

* Produce fabrication and field erection drawings used by suppliers and construction teams

* Enter mechanical design data into structured databases (XML format) to support downstream fabrication processes

* Interpret and apply applicable industry standards and ensure compliance with internal guidelines and customer requirements

* Collaborate with structural engineers, layout designers, and drafting teams to resolve layout and constructability challenges

* Support constructability reviews and improvements for field‑erected equipment

* Ensure all internal teams, external customers, and subcontractors are working from the latest design information

* Track and communicate progress by updating project schedules and status reports

Required Skills & Experience

* Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor

* Strong working knowledge of AISC and AWS weld symbols

* Experience using Bentley Micro Station and Autodesk AutoCAD

* Hands‑on experience creating engineering, fabrication, and erection drawings

* Solid understanding of 2D and 3D CAD design workflows

* Comfortable working in a team‑oriented, fast‑paced project environment

* Ability to adapt to evolving design requirements and procedural updates

Preferred Qualifications

* Technical or vocational school education, or two‑year college training (Certificate acceptable; degree preferred)

* 1-3 years of CAD design experience, including academic or internship experience

* Experience supporting large industrial or structural equipment projects

Work Environment

This role is based in a professional office setting with a large, open drafting workspace designed to encourage collaboration. You'll work alongside a sizeable team of designers and detailers, fostering daily communication, peer learning, and shared problem‑solving.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Fenton, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $31.00/hr.
