Entry Level Mechanical Engineering Technician – Contract to Hire (Santa Clara, CA)

Pay Rate: $27 to $31 per hour

Shift Details: 8‑hour day (9:00 AM–6:00 PM) Sunday–Thursday

• Troubleshoot and repair metrology equipment hardware and software issues
• Perform complex electro‑mechanical technical functions such as design, test, checkout, fabrication, modification, troubleshooting and assembly of electronics and electro‑mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, prototype models, specialized test equipment, tools and test fixtures
• Test and troubleshoot system‑level and component‑level problems in electrical and mechanical systems and sub‑systems with minimal supervision. Assignments require solution of difficult problems by application of technical knowledge
• Compile logbooks and test‑procedure documentation utilizing good writing skills. Assist in revising, developing and implementing documented procedures. Write complex technical reports and test procedures
• Observe all safety standards. Maintain a secure, safe, clean and healthy work environment. Attend required health and safety training and follow safety and security policies, procedures and practices. Promptly report accidents, injuries, safety hazards or emergencies to supervisor or Safety department. Follow operating instructions, use protective equipment when required, and use equipment and materials properly. Actively strive to prevent accidents and injuries
• Provide management with technical input to correct problems at the system level and in the manufacturing process
• Provide training to lower‑level Engineering Technicians. Recognized as technical resource for a particular platform or product. Highly proficient at troubleshooting and resolving issues. Effective at providing standard work and workmanship skills training
• Work closely with engineering in the development of procedures and documentation for NPI. May serve as a “Quality Lead”

• Primary support for metrology and analytical tools and equipment
• Troubleshooting process equipment hardware
• FIB/TEM/SEM equipment knowledge helpful
• Semiconductor capital equipment knowledge helpful

• Good understanding of how related teams coordinate their efforts and resources to achieve objectives
• May act as a lead for the team, allocate work and provide subject‑matter guidance to more junior team members
• Exercise judgment, based on previous experience, practices and precedents, to identify and solve problems with little or no precedent
• Impact the effectiveness of own team and closely related teams
• Exchange ideas and information effectively; use tact and diplomacy when dealing with others
• Associate’s Degree (Optional)
