Director, Technical Services

Building on our past. Ready for the future

Worley is a global professional services company of energy, chemicals and resources experts. We partner with customers to deliver projects and create value over the life of their assets. We’re bridging two worlds, moving towards more sustainable energy sources, while helping to provide the energy, chemicals and resources needed now.

The Field Engineer at Worley plays a crucial role in providing construction site engineering resources and expertise during the construction phases of projects. This individual is responsible for interpreting designs, making adjustments to meet site conditions, overseeing construction supervision, and providing final approval of completed construction tasks to ensure conformity to design specifications. Additionally, the Field Engineer acts as a lead when appropriate, serving as a recognized technical specialist with mastery in a single field engineering/commissioning area.

Consultation to engineering and construction site management is a key aspect of this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Make independent decisions and recommendations for large independent projects and/or several small independent projects.
  • Review recommendations for soundness of judgment, but usually accepted as technically accurate and feasible.
  • Decisions involve financial, social, environmental, and organizational impact within the company and externally.
  • Work with self-initiated interaction with supervisor and self-initiated technical guidance.
  • Assign broad duties at the beginning of projects in terms of objectives, relative priorities, and critical areas that impinge on the work of other units.
  • Review work to ensure policy conformity and soundness of approach. Informed guidance is available.
  • Assign project work and provide technical guidance to staff working on small projects.
  • May have direct reports and authority for performance evaluations impacting pay.
Skills and Competencies
  • Strong ability to inform and persuade on complex matters through the preparation and delivery of proposals, presentations, and reports.
  • Collaboration with stakeholders and management.
  • Strong understanding of systems, processes, and tools related to the field.
  • Able to assist others and troubleshoot issues.
Qualifications
  • University Degree, or equivalent, in a related field or equivalent trade qualification combined with further relevant training and experience.
  • Experience varies based on education background. Those with a degree typically have 7+ years of relevant experience, while those with trade qualifications will typically have 12+ years of relevant experience.
