Actalent is partnering with a nationally recognized engineering firm to add a Mechanical Drafter to their growing St. Louis team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone eager to advance their drafting career while contributing to impactful power and utility infrastructure projects.

About the Role

As a Drafter on this team, you will support new substation builds, substation upgrades, and ongoing maintenance projects by producing high‑quality electrical drawings and documentation. You'll work alongside a team of talented engineers and designers, gaining exposure to real‑world design decisions and expanding your technical expertise beyond traditional CAD work.

This role is ideal for early‑career drafters or individuals looking to transition into the utilities or power delivery space.

Key Responsibilities

* Produce and update electrical designs and construction drawings for substation projects using AutoCAD.

* Collaborate closely with engineers and project teams to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to standards.

* Assist with planning and preliminary design tasks for new construction, expansions, and maintenance projects.

* Utilize tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Micro Station for drafting and design support.

Required Skills & Experience

* Strong proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD.

* 0-5 years of drafting experience (open to entry-level and experienced candidates).

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the confidence to ask questions and seek clarity.

* Curiosity and willingness to learn the "why" behind design choices-not just the drafting itself.

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience with in consulting, utilities, or electrical system design environments.

* Familiarity with additional design platforms such as Micro Station or Inventor.

* Leadership qualities or a naturally outgoing communication style.

* Strong technical aptitude and creative problem‑solving skills.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chesterfield, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.00/hr.
