Sustainment Engineer I – Operations Engineering
Location:
Santa Ana, California – Onsite 5 days per week, up to 10% domestic or international travel.
- Asset Lifecycle Management:
Oversee sustainment and optimization of a high‑volume global fleet of injection mold tooling. - New Tooling Integration:
Lead technical support for design, fabrication and qualification of replacement tooling to ensure seamless production continuity. - Technical Problem Solving:
Conduct deep‑dive root‑cause investigations for internal production bottlenecks and supplier quality deviations. - Standardization & Governance:
Author and maintain SOPs to standardize processes across the sustainment lifecycle. - Process Architecture:
Design and implement internal workflows to streamline sustainment of physical assets. - Continuous Improvement:
Identify and pitch data‑driven opportunities for product, equipment and efficiency enhancements. - Cross‑Functional
Collaboration:
Serve as a technical bridge between Quality, Purchasing, CI and Manufacturing to hit operational targets.
Education: BS in Mechanical Engineering (Required)
Professional
Experience:
0–3 years in a Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering role.
- Direct experience with design, maintenance and material selection of injection‑molded components and tooling.
- Hands‑on experience with ultrasonic welding processes and proficiency in Solid Works or equivalent CAD platforms for design review and troubleshooting.
- Background in injection mold tool design is highly desirable.
- Analytical & inquisitive – naturally curious, driven to master new systems and to ask “why” behind “how.”
- Communication – strong verbal and technical writing skills, translating complex issues into actionable plans.
- Adaptability – disciplined team player who thrives on feedback and remains focused in deadline‑driven environments.
- Meticulous – high attention to detail with an organized approach to managing multiple technical priorities.
